Hero & Clinician Wellness: Time for a Check-Up!

A Continuing Education Experience for Clinicians & Crisis Responders

This CE experience provides a safe, healing space for clinicians to explore the personal weight of being essential support during their own life challenges and crises. It provides practical strategies participants can use after the workshop to manage the chaos and stress, find balance, and heal themselves in this line of work.

Using the superhero archetype, participants will inspect their capes to see if they are whole or full of holes; and detect where and how their “kryptonite” shows up with clients, at work, and in life. (Example: Is BPD your arch nemesis? Or is it your partner? Does suicidal ideation haunt you at night? Or that one traumatic memory?) Attendees will complete a therapist/crisis responder-specific mental status exam to identify the behaviors and beliefs that lead to career suicide, relationship homicide, or losing touch with why they joined this profession.

Attendees will take a flight to “crisis rehab” for cape restoration. They will leave with a self-check-up tool* to evaluate their level of burnout, and a written plan for personal and professional wellness.

Upon completion, attendees will be able to:
  • ❖ 1-Recognize and diagnose their career issues and identify if they’ve lost their passion for the helping
profession or simply need an intervention.

  • ❖ 2-Differentiate between when they are an asset or a liability to clients, their families, the profession, and
themselves, and when it is time for a change.

  • ❖ 3-Identify their signs of burnout and develop a plan to maintain an optimal level of personal and
    professional functioning.
